Happy Wednesday Creative Army!

I am incredibly proud to announce that Stage 32 is partnering with Stage 32 educator and writer Mike Gauyo (Insecure, Ginny & Georgia) and Black Boy Writes Media to bring you the Black Boy Writes & Black Girl Writes Mentorship Initiative.

Launched at the beginning of 2021, the Black Boy Writes & Black Girl Writes initiates aimes to bring industry access and resources to budding WGA Black writers.

The application for the class of 2022 open November 15, and close December 15th, 2021. The first round of the applications will include a biography, and original script (any genre, one hour or half hour), and a short essay. Those selected to advance to the second round will have an interview with Mike Gauyo, as well as the initiative's Chief of Programming, Ashley Aronson from which 10-12 participants will be chosen.

Those selected for the 2022 mentorship program will partake monthly roundtables with industry leaders/established writers. Previous participants include Kay Oyegun (This Is Us), Kemp Powers (Soul, One Night in Miami), and Amy Aniobi (Insecure) to name a few. Throughout this process, mentees will be prepared to take general meetings with networks and production companies, as well as writers' room staffing positions.

Each mentee will also receive a free Stage 32 webinar of their choice, along with one free pitch session with whichever executive they choose.

At the conclusion of the program, mentees projects will be read by Mike Gauyo's agents at Culture Creative, as well as literary managers at Writ Large for representation consideration.

For the last 10 years, Stage 32’s mission has been to democratize the entertainment business by presenting and facilitating opportunities for undiscovered talent across the globe, and this initiative will be another highlight of those efforts. On a personal level, and on behalf of my team, I’m excited to be working with Mike Gauyo on this powerful and important project and can’t wait to meet and begin working with the winners!
