The Art Department on any production encompasses everything that you see on screen. It's a team of artists and professionals that supports the Production Designer whose mission is to bring the Director’s vision to life.
In this exclusive Stage 32 webinar, Art Department Coordinator and Producer Lauren Ito, who worked in the Art Department of JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT starring Kevin Smith, FIGHTING WTH MY FAMILY starring The Rock, and more, breaks down the different departments within the Art Department and gives you examples of what each department does and shows how important they all are in making a director's vision come to life.
There was a time that everything you saw on the screen besides the actors was a thing that had to be acquired or created or repurposed for the production. Even the Costume Department is technically and fiscally under the purview of the Production Designer as costumes are considered part of the overall look and feel of the film. Each element has been created by or for the Production Designer and approved by the Director.
In today’s universe of heavy visual effects, the art department works hand-in-hand with Post Production and SFX to make sure that the physical world and the digital worlds are seamlessly interwoven.
Don't miss your chance to learn all about the Art Department so you can take your filmmaking skills and vision to the next level.

Executive

Lauren Ito has a deep lifelong love for the craft of storytelling.
She muscled her way into the business through the business affairs department. She learned everything you’d need to know about delivering a film legally. Then through a strange turn of events she was put in charge of physically delivering films. After working with the Post Production Department during the delivery process she became a part of the Post Department and became a Post Supervisor.
Now Lauren was earning credits as a Producer as well as a Post Supervisor, and swiftly becoming burned out with the business.
At this point, Lauren decided to make a change and took a job as a PA in the Art Department. She was reinvigorated. After working as a PA, she was promoted to Art Department Coordinator, and then worked as a Set Decorator, and lastly Art Directed a major scene in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot with Kevin Smith.
Lauren has now accumulated as many Art Department credits as Post Supervisor Credits, and is looking forward to her new adventure in Animation.
