Post-Production: Finding The Film

Summary

Learn directly from Shaun O’Banion, an award-winning independent producer!
As a producer, post-production is a part of the process you’re rarely involved in from day-to-day, and yet it is one of the most integral parts of the filmmaking process (if not the most important). A lot of questions can be asked from a filmmaker like how to shape the film, how to define roles in post, what to do with VFX, how to handle the footage you have and ultimately how to develop a great film after it’s been shot. It’s not easy to do and it takes a lot of practice and experience to perfect.
We will discuss the pieces that make up the whole, from assessing the relationships in the edit suite, to bringing all of the elements together and how it all happens. From the technical to the emotional, this webinar will attempt to demystify the process in a way for you to easily understand what to do to “find the film” in post.
Post Production: Finding the Film is presented by 20 year industry veteran, Shaun O’Banion, who has worked with the likes of Steven Spielberg, Christopher Walken, Courtney Cox and David Arquette, Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Judd Apatow and Peter Hedges. He has won numerous awards for his films, including the prestigious IFP GOTHAM Award for GIRLFRIEND.
PRAISE FOR SHAUN'S TEACHINGS:
"Thanks for the wonderful class. A phrase comes to mind when I think about it: 'Tell it like it is'. You directly shared what it is like in the industry. I don't know how others in the class are affected, but I am left with the motivation and recognition that one must love - have a passion for creating films to be in the industry - as it should be. So, your effort is an inspiration. You are someone who is 'following his bliss' as Joseph Campbell would state it." - Don D.
"Thank you again for teaching a terrific filmmaking class! You have valuable practical real-world experience that is hard to find in theory based teaching today." - Rene S.
"There was so much information in your class that I think I’ll have to come back next session and take it all over again - gladly! Great class!" - Daniel T.

Feedback for Shaun:
“I bought Shaun’s consult session on my one hour WW2 historical romance TV pilot two months ago. Many producers and screenwriters had read the draft before and admired the script but Shaun, without sugar coating, explained how to improve it. He read my script three times and provided notes line by line which was really amazing to me. The one hour Skype session turned into almost two hours!
He is very knowledgeable about screenwriting and about writing for television. During our session he provided advice on how to make the scenes work in terms of development as he was aware of the fact that I planned to produce and direct it. He questioned every single scene and provided evidence on how to make it better.
Whether you are a seasoned writer or just started out, you must give your script to a professional writer to read and give you advice and constructive criticism.
Shaun is not only a well-respected producer in Hollywood, but also a great screenwriter. I recommend his script coverage and consultation to all filmmakers and screenwriters around the world. I loved our session and will buy again.
Buy here with confidence you won’t regret it.”

"I had a script consult with Shaun O'Banion. We met via zoom. In no way did I feel intimidated. He was very personable. Being a late comer to the world of screenplay writing I need honest constructive criticism to improve my writing technique. Shaun gave me valuable suggestions on how to improve my script, dialogue, and character development. He pointed out inconsistencies in the plot. Lastly he instructed me on how to streamline sentence structure in the action lines. Shaun's feedback will definitely help strengthen my script."
Susan B., Writer
"If you are a screenwriter looking for an in-depth evaluation of your script, I highly recommend Shaun O’Banion. During a recent evaluation session, he provided me with insightful notes and helpful suggestions to both specific scenes and lines as well as from a more general overview perspective. Moreover, he provided his notes from two perspectives: as a producer and as a writer himself. He helped me understand what “speaks” to a producer in the script, for example. He was passionate and enthusiastic in delivering his comments during our Zoom call. I encourage other writers to take advantage of Shaun’s talent for providing extremely helpful notes. Five Stars!"
