I'm a Seattle screenwriter working in historical, drama, LGBTQ+ genres & more

Hello Stage 32 community! I’m a screenwriter based in Seattle, and I specialize in historical, drama, action, and LGBTQ+ themes. I’m also a published author, with four science fiction and three fantasy novels with climate change themes under my belt, as well as numerous short stories.

I’m relatively new to screenwriting, though I’ve loved film, especially Hollywood-style movies, since I was a small child. The first movie I saw in a theater was a revival of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Capitol Theater in Yakima, Wash. My aunt took me, and it was an experience I’ll never forget.

As a screenwriter, I find myself most influenced by Raymond Chandler’s work, such as The Big Sleep, starring Humphrey Bogart. I love film noir and neo-noir, and count Chinatown, Blade Runner, L.A. Confidential, and Brick as inspirations.

I’m been fortunate to receive “Recommend” ratings from professional script coverage for my scripts The Red Feather and The Angry Road. Both are available on my Stage 32 profile.

If you’d like to get a deeper sense of my interests as a writer, check out my blog: https://jgfollansbee.com.

Looking forward to contributing to the community and working with you!

Geoff Hall Hello Geoff! Thanks for the great advice. Oddly enough, I'm writing from my temporary post near Malton, Yorkshire! I'm visiting family, and I'll spend some time in London over the next few days. Perhaps we can have coffee sometime.

Geoff Hall

Ah, Malton! Beautiful place. I live in Bristol, in the South West.

Joseph Follansbee

Thanks for the correction! Still learning my way around. ;)

Hi, Joseph! Welcome to Stage 32. I have enjoyed some of the LGBTQ+ detective movies that are available. There's definitely room for such fare. I myself am writing gay romance movies with happy endings. In looking at your blog, I'm interested in your climate change fiction too. I wrote a supernatural thriller with a subtle focus on humanity's relationship with the planet.

Joseph Follansbee

Richard Morell Cool! Any favorites among the detective movies?

Allison Agnew

Welcome! I'm just a tad south of you.

Matkai Burmaster
