I was considering sending a script to Amazon Studios, but the company hired a producer who stated he intends to move away from user submitted content and focus on scripts acquired through traditional means.
Ive submitted a few scripts over the past few years. At the time, their development slate was backed up with optioned specs. Now that they're finally developing some credibility, perhaps they'll finally get around to developing some of their existing ones. However, their new found credibility, and the fact that they're working with established writers now probably decreases the likelihood of any of us lowly spec writers having anything optioned.
Amazon is just funding, Ted Hope is producing. All of the material previously submitted to Amazon isn't part of this. PS: This is going to be an interesting experiment because Hope quit producing for a while because he found it impossible to make a living making the films he selected to make. Now that Amazon is picking up the check, will Amazon get stuck with movies that don't turn enough profit to stay afloat? Or will Hope produce enough winners to make this worth Amazon continuing the program? They sunk a lot of $ into the previous program which resulted in 0 movies being made. This time they will get movies, at least.
If you do submit, consider doing so privately as opposed to publicly. That way your material gets an honest read as opposed to one open to online lurkers and amateurs.
This sounds awesome, I've got a pilot that I thought would be great for netflix but still polishing it up. Thanks for the Link Michelle, but would anyone know the submission requirements for Netflix? I'm pretty sure they're swamped
I've just sent a few scripts to them (fingers crossed) as they're currently being evaluated, with one in the "deciding" list... can't help but get excited

I suspect this latest Amazon film initiative will go the way of it's ill-conceived attempt to create it's own publishing imprint.
I am there on Amazon Studio website . They have a partnership with Warner Bros. :)
Do you know how to submit?
