Making Money With Your Skills

What are some of you doing to earn money since the market is saturated with film and video production companies? Just wondering how to generate some income since I have access to an awesome crew but no projects at the moment. #MakeMoney

Moe. A common alternative to Film / TV work is things usually more related to the live acting realm. Role-play for Business, Corporate Video, Industrial / Viral, Training or Internal Videos. This is work usually requested when you speak to someone at the human resources department. They also would arrange audiovisual and media for their events like teambuilding. Also check for Standardized Patient programs or Simulations. These are all buzz words for people / place who might have actors working for them and also might do or need some production.

Thanks Rocco for the suggestions.

There is a website called Fiverr.com that I use all the time for all types of stuff, voice-overs, pitch man, pitch woman, editing. Put a shingle there and grab some small jobs. You won't get rich but you can make a little coin to pass the time. Or you can do like Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney and put on a show by grabbing whatever you have available to you. I'm a writer, if you have a crew and can find some actors and an editor maybe we can make something out of that or just click on meet-ups of Stage 32 in your area. I feel awesome just writing to you, lol.

One thing I've thought of doing but haven't yet. Since everyone needs an acting reel to get hired, and no first timer has one until they've been hired - it's a catch 22. I thought it might be useful to create a one-stop shop. For a fee, say a couple hundred, right, shoot and edit a three or four short scenes. Make them as diverse as possible in order to show the actor's full potential. Take in 2, 3 or 4 clients at a time and have them all act in each others scenes.

Hey Tresa, Thanks for the recommendation of fiverr.com. What type of scripts do you write? Do you have any short screenplays or all features?

Tresa Bennett

Hi Moe, I'm glad you liked Fiverr.com. I have all types of screenplays; drama, comedy, sci-fi action adventure (or if you want to call it Fantasy). They are all full length feature screenplays. I can write a short if you need one. I just need the parameters for the story like what kind of locations do you have access to, what kind of genre would you like (comedy or drama), what kind of actors work with you (kids, adults, animals). If I have an idea of what you're working with I can figure out a way to create a story around it. I think it would be fun to do.
