Finding a screenwriting Mentor

Hey everyone! As you may know, writing is a very lonely job and I have come to that point where I need that constructive feedback from someone who knows what they are talking about (no offence friends and family ;)) Therefore I am looking to find myself a screen writing mentor! Now I have googled this and read nearly everything I can find but instead of me signing up to paid services, there is an old fashioned way of getting to know someone in the biz and establish that relationship. Now I have taken some steps and messaged some potential mentors but still without success. I am currently writing a comedy pilot script for tv that is nearly there but not quite yet. It is unique and is set apart from the overly used themes in TV today of dysfunctional love lives. I guess all I'm asking for is that support a writer can give another writer. I'm not a one trick pony, this is something I am doing for the long run and all I need is a saddle and a gentle kick to get me off to the races. Is there anyone here that would like to help me on my journey? I've written plenty, and normally work on two scripts at a time (which I am now). So this is me really kinda taking a step out of my little room and reaching out to the world and hoping a virtual hand will stretch out to me and make me feel ok. I will not say no to paying writing services as long as it's appropriate (I only work three days a week - Rest is writing!) If you are interested in giving me a little go then please message me here or private message me. Thanks for reading ya'll :)

Ashley, I'd be more than happy to give you any feedback you need (not that I have it all figured out because i don't) : )

Ashley, I see you haven't been very active in the Lounge, but you certainly can post any questions that you might have about craft or about your work. Members from all aspects and all levels of the industry are very generous and helpful -- this site is rather an open format for mentoring, if you will. So, you've definitely come to the right place. :) Also feel free to post loglines or scripts or just the first few pages on your personal page. Members can then take a look and offer you feedback. Many of our members are script consultants and working professionals who often offer advice. There's also the Happy Writers, classes and webinars available. RB does a FREE webinar every month: https://www.stage32.com/webinars/on-stage-with-rb. Regina Lee is teaching a class starting tomorrow that could be beneficial to you: https://www.stage32.com/happy-writers/classes/How-To-Hook-Your-Reader-In.... Anyway, no need to feel lonely. We're here for you! I look forward to seeing you more around the Lounge. :)

Hi Beth! Thank you for your kind words, I will definitely be more active on the lounge. I'll also check out the free webinars as I don't think I've explored this site to it's full potential yet.
