Introduce Yourself : Re-Introducing myself! by Felicia Kane

A little introduction before I go into my whole speech of what has been happening in my life. My name is Felicia Kane, I am a screenwriter, interested in anime and animation. I also write comic scripts, learning to write video games scripts, and I have dove into pretty much all the genres. My favorites are horror and fantasy, but people tell me I am really good at writing romance. I aspired to make my own anime and also to an ADR writer! ......... I created this account when I was 18, probably just before I graduated high school. I tried to pop in occasionally but I was always so busy with school. Well, as of June 2016, I actually graduated college with my BFA in Creative Writing for Entertainment. I guess you can tell I really wanted to have my dream of being a screenwriter come true, right? During school I did a lot of commissions of short films, from 2 pages to 40 pages. With that I learned that, wow, I can finished off a rough draft of 20 pages in about 2 hours, of it I am really passionate about what I am writing it is about 90 minutes. I also learned that, being paid 5 bucks (actually 4 since the site takes a whole dollar...what?) is not a lot for a script. I still try to commission scripts whenever I can, and with that realization I was paid to write a for real short film! Most of the stuff I wrote, vanished, probably did a few people's homework, they needed to write a script for a writing class they really did not want to take, oh well, but finally something I wrote was filmed! It was called, The Puppet, I co wrote it with a talented director, he is a film student, and he had me write something really amazing. He tried to put it through some competitions, I do not really know what happened with those, because like most directors...They kind of forget to talk to the writers, and anyone else that is not the producers or actors...Rude. All I know is, my name was on a credit roll, I actually have a credit on imdb, my mother put my credit on imdb as her Facebook cover for a little while, it was surreal. Then things got a little weird, I moved to Wyoming with my boyfriend at the time, I really did not want to leave home but I did need a change of scenery. Unfortunately, the change of scenery was just sitting in bed all day, unable to work, (medical conditions), and literally doing the same thing I was while in Arizona. Only, I was alone all day and losing my interest in writing. If anyone knows me really well, they KNOW I can pop out random stories like it is nothing. I was the master of improv in my threatre class...Well not a master in the acting sense, when I get a case of the giggles they just never go away, but I was really good at building scenarios. I graduated college, the most exciting thing is that The Puppet actually aired on TV on Shorts HD which was such a big deal. I did not get to see it air on TV sadly, but knowing my name was on a credit roll that some people actually saw, (twice I might add) was such a big deal. I turned 21 and realized I was not happy sitting in that apartment anymore. I was becoming malnourished because stores were really far away and I did not have money anyway, the ex boyfriend promised me he would give me money and never did, while he got all his meals for free. I could not eat until he got home and bought me sandwiches. I told him I wanted to go home, he did not ask why, he did not try to fight for me, and with that, I knew it was my best decision to leave. Also the fact that I went two days without any food and when I asked for money to buy something from a gas station, he said no...Yeah, this girl was out. It was a painful trip home, what was only supposed to be a 13 hour drive, became an 18 hour drive, but at least it inspired a new script to write from it. I am home and working on all the things that I had planned before I left. I am currently working on a comic script for a web comic that I really want to start up and also trying to find some other work on the side. I am back, feeling creative, feeling happy, and ready to be who I really am, a writer!
