Anything Goes : I don't even know where to begin... by G.R. Barnett

I don't even know where to begin...

Since March I have had a lot of personal tragedies happen in rapid succession, without going into too much detail they were of the medical variety and both my Mom and I are still recovering.

What I want to know is, how on earth do you hang onto your dreams of actually doing something in this business when life has basically kicked you while you were down and laughed in your face? I'm not trying to whine, guys, truly I'm not. I know making our projects happen is often just a labor of love. I just... need a ray of light, is all.

Hi G. R., I wish I had some amazingly wonderful words of wisdom here...but if I do, I've not found them yet. I share some of your feelings though...as I look back over the past two years and think of it as a script, I have to question the sanity of the writer...too much personal loss and change.

For me, though...it is what helped me finish my novel. My writing became my "time-away", a place where I had more control over things. I think I found myself venting a lot of my frustrations through the story as well...maybe kind of "getting even" with the world in a more healthy way.

This may not be that ray of light for you...but maybe a small candle???

Take care,

John

Sometimes you have to put things on hold and take care of the priorities in you life. Like your health, your livelihood, etc. When thing have stabilized, you can devote time to your other interests.

G.R. Barnett Go see a movie! "MAUDIE" is a bio-pic about an unloved hunchback with crippled, deformed hands who became Canada's best known folk artist.
