Hello all! My name is Michael J. Peterson and I am a vocal coach, singer, actor, licensed teacher in choral vocal music K-12, who has coached students to professional level, who are currently following the profession. In total I’ve retired three times, being sought out twice after retiring initially, first in 2013 after teaching Japanese while serving as the Department Chair of Foreign Languages and most recently in December 2018. I taught Japanese from 1995 through 2013 full time, served on the National Council of Japanese Language Teachers 1997-2001, and helping with the formulation of Standards for Teaching Japanese adopted by many schools in the United States. I served two years as the president of that organization from… hmmm, I think 1999 to 2001.

I am a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in choral vocal music, but also picked up additional credits to have a Master’s degree in secondary general education and a license to be a secondary school principal.

I stay active as an actor and singer, performing over the past years in a variety of short films including a recent SAG/AFTRA short titled Singh.

The STAGE

WALTER (2015) in which I am listed by my role of PJ Roberts in the above listed the STAGE.

I was asked to sing a lead in an original one act opera: ROBOTS at the Delphi Opera House in Delphi, Indiana in the role of Mr. Prince, the administrator of a futuristic progressive elementary school: antagonist to the teacher being forced into retirement – Mrs. Dodo. Yes, it is contrived by indicating her demise in becoming extinct. The role was written for a baritone which is the bottom of my range, but for playing the villain I thought that growling the sung dialogue served its demonic purpose.

ROBOTS – Mr. Prince. (Entry at minute 24:10)
