Hi everyone,
I used to write huge SFX extravaganzas $100M+ with elaborate space battles before I was told NO-ONE is banking such sums on a newbie. So now I write $1M contained thrillers, horror/comedies, and comedies, set in limited locations.
My latest is "The Flip & the Dead", a horror/comedy - kinda "HGTV meets The Conjuring".
And working on "Dad Band", a comedy a 'la "School of Rock meets Old School".
Keen to swap notes with anyone interested in similar :-)
Greg

Hi, Greg. Glad to connect. I did the same thing. I switched to low-budget feature scripts. I also write micro-budget. Most of them are contained.

Hi Greg. Keep at it. The fish will bite. Have you thought about turning the scripts into novels to gain traction with audiences?
Bev Oliver Thanks! Have not explored that option yet. Interesting thought....
Mr. Harvey, I would like to swap your screenplay "The Flip & the Dead" with my Screenplay '"The Gavel" (Logline: Identical twin sisters who moonlight as violent vigilantes must outwit a vengeful copycat who framed them for murdering students on a college campus in Austin, Texas.)
my big budget sci-fi comedy made it to the Big Break Top 3 -- I was surprised as "they" all said not to write big budget sci-fi when you're a nobody; but the point of the spec isn't to get made, but get noticed and have something to query with. In that respect, that worked.
Boris Coll Good point, would love to read your sci-fi comedy if willing to share.
