America's Original Murder Mystery Dinner Theater

I was asked to share my story on how I started the Mystery Cafe, in Cambridge, MA, downstairs at the Cantab Lounge. I was 26 and I was the program director for the Learning Adventure, a very cool adult ed school and I was the host of the tour, Barhopping, Boston's Sleaziest Bars. Yeah, it was cool and it was featured in the Wall Street Journal. My mom was so proud, 4 years of College, $40k at the time at Emerson and that was my claim to fame, Anyway, the bar offered me the space and I could do anything I wanted with it and keep 30% of the bar. So, I created Mystery Cafe' as a combination of Shear Madness and the Medieval Manor. It sold out from day 1, April 15th with Death & Taxes.

I eventually licensed it out to 21 producers around the country including my dad in Phila, my college friends in Providence and San Diego, and many others. It still has life in Boston and started a huge trend. Me, I still run it as well as a corporate team building company.

David, I just saw you on someone else’s post and loved your energy. Now I came across your bio and what an awesome background you have! If I’m ever in Cambridge I’m totally checking this out. Glad to have your creativity in the Stage 32 community!
