I have used this clip many times in my undergraduate classes to introduce the students to the world of sound design. I especially like the segment of how Disney used analog elements to create sounds.

Love, love, LOVE! Especially since it's a mostly silent film, so foley and sound design become infinitely more prominent.

What is a really fun exercise is to have the students build up the soundscape just watching the visuals and not referencing the work that Ben Burtt did in the film. It is pretty incredible to see the variety and scope that comes from different perspectives.

They have a similar project at my old school, where the students are tasked with creating all the sound for a short animation. Although they had to get a copyright free animation due to some students using their final projects as reel material, which in turned caused some issues when they tried to get a job (yikes!).
But I love this stuff. My audio class was the one that made me think "Dang I didn't know school could be awesome!"
LOL! I taught film & TV production in HS for a year and I'm here to tell you, @Sam - school can be awesome ;-)

This is the film I used for my final project in college, and when I realized how awesome this job can be!

Aww, that's so cool, Kevin Gamble! Knowing that you do so much thriller/horror, it's kinda awesome that family-friendly films could still inspire you!
Karen "Kay" Ross Yes indeed!
