Hi! So excited that I have landed a writing assignment. It's a TV show on Indian culinary and cultural heritage which will be hosted by a celebrity chef. Now, I need to submit a Bible for the show. I'm looking for Bibles of travel shows that I could take a look at. Any leads would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Adite, that's such amazing news! I know unscripted is probably a bit different, but this webinar could be a good place to start: https://www.stage32.com/webinars/How-To-Write-a-TV-Series-Bible

I'd just do a web search for the bibles of shows like "Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations" (Andrew Zimmern), "No Passport Required" (Marcus Samuelsson), or any of Anthony Bourdain's shows.

How are TV series bibles used? Who asks to read them? When? Or are they simply submitted?
A TV series bible is used to pitch a project and help writers in a writers' room write future episodes, Roberta. Producers, production companies, networks, etc. ask to read them. From my experience, producers, production companies, etc. ask writers to submit series bibles.

Thanks, Maurice. But as my first season is written and the later seasons projected, I guess my summary of episodes written to date and projected is a bible?

You're welcome, Roberta. A summary of episodes and a summary of future episodes are in a series bible, but a series bible usually has more information in it. It usually has a summary page, character bios, the overall series arc, pictures, information about the story world, etc.
Hello. I think this is a great discussion about creating a Bible for a travel show on Stage32. It got me thinking about the fundamentals of successful travel. One of the most important aspects that is often overlooked is having reliable travel insurance. I recently found this great resource on travel insurance in the travel to Philippines. This is a game changer and provides a hassle-free exploration experience. What other must-haves do you think should be included in the Travel Show Bible? Let's share our observations!
