Vision isn't rare... execution is rare.
Everybody seems to have the next great idea. And listen... maybe they do. However, it will never matter if they don't know how to communicate it to a team of people that can turn said vision into reality.
Now I don't want to devalue vision. It is the foundation of making anything great, but it will never amount to anything if you don't know how to properly communicate it.
I would encourage any aspiring filmmaker to go out and start communicating. Make a short film, make a music video, hell... make anything. Then, pay attention to how excellent, or sub par, you are at actually getting people to buy in and execute your vision.
Rinse and repeat. Do this, and your filmmaking will improve drastically.

Jacob Matthew it's a vibe. I like how you describe the process and I do think the visual conveyance understandably can be the vehicle, makes sense.
And YES unless I'm shooting my single-camera cooking show on my phone by myself in my kitchen, it's going to need to be deeply collaborative and communication is not only the medium, it's the immersive team sport that we love so well.
Best wishes for superlative momentum !!

The vision isn't all that rare but it is uncommon. Execution is also rare but can be taught (sometimes). The art of communication is the rarest of all and I really think that it's an inherent trait that is fairly unteachable.

This is so true. 90% of difficulties in working with crew is communication issues, and not trusting your team to execute their roles well.
