Need some makeup advice!

Hi all! I have a video contract coming up with a local drug prevention coalition, and they want to do a video highlighting the effects of overdose. It's essentially going to be a 5 minute short film, and there is definitely a need for practical effects. We're good on actors, props, etc but there's really no one local that does effect make up, and I guess I'm not googling correctly to try and find how to do makeup on a person to show that they are feeling the symptoms of overdose. Does anyone know of any tutorials or references, or possibly can provide a consult? Thanks in advance!

Depends on how far down the line overdose effects need to be. EG Habitual use differs greatly from a near fatal overdose. If its daily use and you cannot find a makeup artist I’d suggest absolutely NO makeup & harsh direct lights & maybe smudge dark eye shadows. Also depends on drug. EG Heroin skin & fingernails need go blue & respiratory problems need highlighting by sound team. Audience hear changes in breathing etc. Research which drug the trailer is about.
