Filmmaking / Directing : Tv series development by Dirk Van Den Berg

We have a great concept for a political thriller tv-series with an international cast and plot that might be interesting for the US and as a European co-pro. From what I know US cable companies (AMC, ShowTime, HBO) would be the most likely option to contact - yet where to start "lobbying" in the US? Or is there a totally different way to do this?
