OK, so I'm shooting a big indie rock band at a large venue but can't get sound from the board and am wondering how to get decent sound. So far I'm thinking a zoom in the front and back and then mix it with the three cameras. Am I missing something?

There are offen "tapers" in the audience, recording with great equipment. Check archive.org . Go to live music archive and search for the band to see if there are already shows listed. There should be info about the bands policy and the name and contact person who " reps" the taping community .
