A turbulent intersection of class and racism erupts into violence between Chinese immigrants and insurrectionists in 1885 Wyoming, forcing a U.S. Marshal with a dark lineage and a vindictive widow to battle the malevolent forces responsible for the uprising.
SYNOPSIS:
The SOUND of something unwieldy, violent, and thunderous gallops towards us with FURY…
We open upon a Confederate stagecoach caravan barreling over treacherous terrain through the Rio Grande en route to Mexico. Led by COLONEL RODGERS, a bull-dog of a man, and CLAYTON BULLOCK, an infamous Confederate general known as The Iron Scarecrow, the caravan contains women, children, and possibly other human cargo aboard. An unforeseen accident brings the convoy to a harrowing halt in the middle of a perilous no-man’s land. As the soldiers attempt to get the convoy rolling again, their CHILDREN play a game of tag led by BRONAGH (Clayton’s legitimate 11-year-old daughter) and JEREMIAH (his 11-year-old bastard sired with a runaway slave). The caravan is ambushed by UNION SOLDIERS and a chaotic battle ensues. Clayton calls for everyone to get inside the stagecoaches, but Jeremiah is bounced out by Bronagh’s hateful mother EDITH. CAPTAIN WILLIAM BROUSSEAU leads the attack on the confederate band. Colonel Rodgers, Edith, and Clayton are all killed during the fray. William rescues Jeremiah, and tells him he knows his mother, SYBIL. Now orphaned by William’s conquest, Bronagh eyes the Captain, hell-bent on revenge.
Flash forward twenty years, and a group of insurrectionists inspired by The Iron Scarecrow rob a store in Rock Springs, Wyoming, stealing forty barrels of highly explosive black powder. The heist is in correlation with an ongoing conflict between Chinese and White coal miners working in the territory. U.S. MARSHAL JAXSON BROUSSEAU (an adult Jeremiah) is tasked with solving the robbery under the instruction of William, the former Captain who has risen the political ladder to become the Governor of Wyoming Territory, while raising Jeremiah as his own son. However, an outspoken miner named ABEL REDD causes much strife for Jaxson and the Chinese community of Rock Springs, as he pushes more White laborers to support the insurrectionists' cause. Tension swells to a boiling point when Abel kills ZHANG WEI, a Chinese miner who is the husband of a local medicine woman named MOON. As Abel runs into hiding, THE LEADER of the insurrectionist group makes a grand arrival at the town church and is revealed to be a now adult Bronagh, stoking the fires of the insurrection in a mission to tarnish William’s legacy.
As Bronagh and her insurrection group, THE SCARECROWS, spur a massacre against Chinese immigrants in Rock Springs, an even bigger insurrection is planned in the nearby town of Evanston that could completely change the course of history in the darkest ways if it is to succeed. With law forces completely overwhelmed, It is up to Jaxson and Moon to save the day and Sweetwater County from Bronagh’s relentless pursuit for revenge.
