GENRE: Thriller, Sci-fi
LOGLINE:

During the Cold War, a Canadian research scientist is recruited by the CIA to conduct mind experiments on a remote island using hallucinogenics and a cutting-edge headset. Charged with discovering the key to mind control, she probes the boundaries of perception, encountering supernatural forces and a diabolical plot for world domination.

SYNOPSIS:

The story begins with Sarah, a brilliant research scientist at McGill University (a lone wolf, beautiful without trying) and her assistant Liam (clear eyed, determined, blessed with the quiet solitude of computer geekery).

Together they have developed a groundbreaking device called the Neuro-PULSE, a headset capable of stimulating and monitoring brain activity. The device represents a quantum leap forward in the realm of neurotechnology.

Initially focused on treating depression, Sarah becomes increasingly obsessed when she discovers that the Neuro-PULSE holds the potential to cure Parkinson's disease. This breakthrough holds profound significance to Sarah, haunted by the memory of her late father and his agonizing battle with the disease.

Driven by a desire for redemption, she seeks a cure for the crippling neuro-degenerative disease. Her obsession knows no bounds, micro-dosing patients with psychotropic drugs to enhance the headset's effect. However, one experiment causes a patient to act violently, losing control before falling into a coma. As a result, Sarah and Liam are thrown out of University for their dangerous and immoral research.

All is lost until the Dean of Science introduces Sarah to an intelligence officer from Langley. He explains that communists have found the key to mind control, that America must retaliate, and that her study could be the answer.

Sarah agrees to participate in "Operation Mindscape" using the headset to fight the communist threat. Although skeptical of mind control she is nonetheless excited to continue her own desperate research on curing Parkinsons.

Sarah travels with Liam to an Edwardian mansion on a remote island, a secret offshore base set up by the CIA that is only accessible at low tide. Locals warn them against stepping foot on the island, once the property of the Junkers – Prussian nobility who used the island as a summer retreat during the war. Ostracized for their sympathies toward the Third Reich, the family faced widespread condemnation until their strange disappearance at the end of the war.

Meanwhile, the CIA sends Tom to the island, a seasoned “Psychonaut” – an expert experienced in psychotropic drug use to partake in the study. Tension and intrigue escalate as Langley realizes the true power of the Neuro-PULSE device which taps into the brain's "God module” — experiments that quickly raise questions over the limits of science and the human mind.

Weeks of unsuccessful experiments follow, but despite no breakthrough in achieving mind control, a cure for Parkinsons is tantalizingly close. However, ominous events begin to happen after symbols of the Black Sun are discovered littered across the mansion, accompanied by eerie nightmares, unexplained lapses of time, and strange natural phenomena.

Bizarre objects are also uncovered – including a Swahili Spear and books dedicated to summoning dark spirits. Then the discovery of a concealed passage leading to an underground chamber reveals a cryptic tableau: entrance to an ancient barn housing a sacrificial altar covered with occult symbols.

In the shadows lies "Liber Sanguinis Obscurus" or "The Dark Book of Blood" — an ancient manuscript teeming with blood rituals, incantations, and ominous prophecies.

As the clandestine experiments continue, Tom begins to lose his mind, wandering around the mansion with no recollection of who he is. Until one day he rips off his clothes, grabs the Swahili Spear, and runs off into the night.

Desperate for help, Sarah calls the Dean of Science. She explains events but that her cure for Parkinsons is almost complete. His calm demeanor brings a new sense of confidence in Sarah as he promises to visit the island and help finish her research.

While waiting, Sarah and Liam begin to decode the black sun symbols that litter the mansion, quickly realizing they form a spiral pattern leading to a structure on the estate, an old house that once fuelled power to the mansion.

Inside its walls are engulfed in black sun symbols. More jarring, they find photographs of the Dean dressed as a Nazi soldier. They realize he is a member of the Junker family, and that they have been lured to the island under false pretenses. Worse, the Dean and his nefarious Junker family arrive on the island, and Sarah and Liam find themselves ensnared in a deadly trap.

In a chilling climax, Sarah is taken away to the sacrificial altar as Liam is dragged outside by two cult members. They raise their guns with deadly intent – but Tom suddenly appears from the shadows, the Swahili spear a lethal arc in his hands.

With a swift and precise throw, one cultist is silenced forever. Then Tom charges headlong at the remaining assailant, but his bravery is met with a hail of gunfire as they wrestle to the floor. The clash is fierce and brutal, bodies entwined in a deadly dance of survival – until Liam takes the initiative, grabs the spear, and harpoons the remaining cult member, killing him instantly. Racing to Tom's side, Liam's heart sinks as Tom's life ebbs away.

Meanwhile, Sarah wears the headset and is consumed by dark forces when ominous incantations open an interdimensional portal. Her eyes roll back black and she undergoes a terrifying transformation, wielding unimaginable power. The altar becomes a scene of chaos, fire, and cosmic phenomena as the Dean and his cult family are destroyed by the powerful forces flowing through Sarah's body.

Exhausted, Sarah collapses in the inferno – but is dragged away to safety by Liam. They make their escape, finding an old rowboat by the shore.

As they drift away Liam discovers a deep wound in his stomach. Sarah reacts to its severity, holding him close until he dies in her arms. Sarah is left alone as she floats away, lit up by flames from an island that is now totally ablaze …
