SYNOPSIS:
Lauren Patton is a beautiful and beloved young lady by all who come into contact with her. One day, she ends up on the wrong side of town where she is brutally beaten and raped by a young campus police David Dotson who pretends to help her fix her car; he leaves her for dead instead. Two months later after cheating death, Lauren makes a second visit to the family clinic and is informed that she is pregnant by the man who raped her two months earlier. Lauren is supposed to be sterile from a serious accident she had as a child, so this news shockers her and her parents. She decides to keep the miracle baby girl and names her Rue. Rue loves and would do anything for her loving mother, Lauren. But Lauren has a dark secret that she’s never told Rue. As a child, Rue was always told her father died before she born. After the occasional request from Rue to her mother asking to see a picture of her father, Lauren never seemed to have one handy. Over the years, Rue gives up asking and moves on. Rue graduates high school, and shockers her mother by going to the police academy to become a cop. During the first few weeks on the job, Rue comes across a shocking old case file of a savage attack of a young local woman. As she’s heading home after a long crazy day at the precinct, she gets a text from Lauren asking her to stop by for a late dinner. During dinner, Rue casually brings up the weirdest case of her day to her mother. Lauren hyperventilates and almost passes out. Rue figures she must know more than what she’s leading on. She begins to pry deeper and Lauren eventually spills the beans. Rue is angry at her mother, but quickly realizes all the pressure she must had been under and quickly forgives her mother. She also makes a promise to Lauren that she will find the rapist and put him behind bars. Rue picks up a clue that leads her to the front door of an insane asylum looking for answers. After Rue makes a connection with a patient, she gets the break of a lifetime in the cold case. As Rue continues to search for the rapist, what she doesn’t know is he’s been watching her all along.
