THE KACHINA CHRONICLES

THE KACHINA CHRONICLES
By Hilton Moore

GENRE: Thriller, Horror
LOGLINE:

An ancient killing field, discovered during a murder investigation on Indian lands, exposes the culprits who have been killing, unseen, for centuries.

SYNOPSIS:

Jess, a ranger for the Federal Wilderness Areas of North America finds another abandoned vehicle leading into the wilderness area. She calls local Kachina County Sheriff , Ross, in to remove the vehicle.

A flashback to the vehicle's owners parking and entering the area, introduces a spirit being which divides, and kills them both.

Upon further investigation, Jess finds the dead owner in a ravine in a hidden part of the wilderness area. She calls in a federal crime scene team, who uncover hundreds more bodies dating back a century.

An elder rancher, Mr. Tuttle, who's family has owned lands surrounding the wilderness area since the 1800's, is called in as an adviser by Jess. Both are friends and share in the understanding of ancient tales of the first native people.

In questioning Mr. Tuttle, he opens the door into the Kachina world to both Ross and Jess. He tells them about a curse upon the land which continues to haunt and kill anyone foolish enough to remain on the land after dark.

He gives Jess, and Ross two amulets which will protect them in their duties during the investigation. Tuttle leaves the two at dusk, and warns them about the dangers.

After he leaves the two, they discuss the improbability of the spirits Mr. Tuttle told them about. Jess defends the old man as he has more knowledge about such things than most tribal elders.

While they discuss this, and the night is falling, they hear the ancient ones around them calling to them to come play with them. They realize the old man's wisdom at that moment.
