About Carolina

Inspired by her childhood in Mexico, Carolina Hernandez was destined to become a designer with a purpose. After watching her Mother and Grandmothers sew and create garments, Carolina was fascinated by the process and decided to join in the family tradition, which led her to Los Angeles, California with the desire to attend fashion design school.

However, in 2005 Carolina decided to give back to the country that had given her a life changing opportunity. Therefore, she joined the U.S. Navy and served on board USS Pearl Harbor where she deployed in support of the Global War on Terrorism 2005, Partnership of the Americas 2007, conducting Maritime Security Operations (MSO) in the Arabian Gulf 2008 and in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 2012.

In 2014 Carolina earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in fashion design from the Art Institute of California-SD and also received a scholarship during the 6th annual fashion show competition receiving the most creative award.

Because of her diverse background, Carolina decided to incorporate her military experiences with her first passion, design. For this reason, Carolina created the brand Veteran Couture founded in 2015. In her designs you will see vibrant colors, various textures, unique embellishments, asymmetrical silhouettes, and fabric manipulation techniques which tease and trick the eye.

Currently, Carolina continues to progress and evolve as a creative designer. Considering the American dream often requires patience, hard work and dedication, barely a moment goes by where Carolina is not producing. She had participated in local fashion shows supporting nonprofit organizations raising awareness on human trafficking and domestic violence. Close to her heart, Carolina is also busy promoting and supporting entrepreneur veterans, hoping her story can inspire others to find the best version of themselves.

Unique traits: Hand stitch each single garment including head pieces.
