KLAUS, WITCH KILLER
By Christopher Washington

GENRE: Fantasy
LOGLINE:

Before he was the jolly Christmas hero, Suhnd Ah Klaus was orphaned when his village was slaughtered by a coven of witches. He returns with allies for revenge, redemption and to find his lost love.

SYNOPSIS:

The story opens with the narrative of the legend of the village of KlausDen which leads into the charge of Suhnd-So and the Mace Men of KlausDen, who attack the coven of the Sisters of the NamDahi. One of the young warriors named Safir, cowers in battle and is shunned by all for the rest of his life. The remaining warriors hail their dead and return home, never hearing from the witches again.

Years later, a child named Suhnd-Ah plays with Maiya, his childhood friend when they are bullied by a group of boys.

The pair beat the group badly and run home, boasting to their parents. The pair meet up again at the 'Preparation', where children are trained to fight. During the Preparation, the Witches return in greater numbers and eventually overrun the village, killing all but Suhnd-Ah, who hid under a basket until the sun rose.

Time passes and Suhnd, now a man, is a sailor on a large vessel, where he learns about the world. Suhnd becomes a master maker of weapons, carpentry, needlecraft and boat building. Suhnd rescues a pair of children from a butcher who was using unwanted children to make sausages and decides to return home with them, buying a schooner with the money he saved over the years.

On his journey north, he is visited by Jarack, Son of the Frost who is looking for the warmth of children. Suhnd convinces Jarack to spare them and Jarack agrees, mentioning Maiya in his past travels. Suhnd, now excited to rescue his lost love, arrives at his former village and creates his Workshop Fortress, and brings more children to his home, giving them the pepper-spice until he has a community of 'Helpers'.

Later while hunting in the snow, Suhnd meets and battles what he believes is a polar bear until he learns that the image is Safir, the villager who was shunned hundreds of years earlier, who is now called 'The Abominable Snowman" for the scars on his face and the polar bear skin coat he wears. The two become friends and Suhnd returns home with plenty of food for the community.

On his travels, Suhnd meets Rudolph, who is rescued from a thorn thicket before he kills four wolves alone. Suhnd meets Zwarte Piet, a Moorish ship captain in battle with two Jinn demons after his boat was caught in a time loop. Klaus helps Zwarte defeat the demons and Zwarte swears his loyalty and those of his line to Klaus.

While in preparation for battle, Father Time appears and tells Suhnd that this battle has been a long time in the making. Suhnd with his new allies returns to Black Skull Mountain and fights a final skirmish where he is joined by Safir, Zwarte and the Helpers. They rescue Maiya and kill most of the witches, but Rudolph is lost when the last of the witches tackle Rudolph and push him off the cliff into the rocks below. In the light of a funeral pyre, Suhnd emerges from the crevice opening with only Rudolph's horns.

The story ends with Suhnd's narration of how he continues to fight for the children, wherever they may be. Suhnd and Zwarte Piet emerge through the fog in a new prototype truck, with Rudolph's horns affixed to the front grill. The two roar the truck and speed off in a flash of light.
