A young American with adventure in mind ventures to Greece to join the fight for Greek
Independence against the Ottoman Empire.
SYNOPSIS:
The Siren's Song lured unsuspecting seafarers to their doom. This historical drama is
set during the Greek fight for Independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1821. A
Greece which lured unsuspecting adventurers to fight for her and is set around true
events.
Henry Ballas is an idealist who's seafaring Greek Grandfather settled in America. Like
the other volunteers, he expects to find a land of heroes, Gods and wise men living in
Utopia. Instead he finds poverty, corruption and ignorance. Due to these experiences,
his illusions sre shattered.
When Henry arrives at Navarino just after the massacre of the Turkish population. He
is befriended first by Yelda, a beautiful, half Turkish-half Greek girl, then Miltiades, a
Klepht (bandit) and they set off for Tripolitsa. There Henry's Grandfather's family still
live and where the European army of volunteers can be found. His fellow travelers are
on the make, Yelda for a European husband and Miltiades who has a rich foreigner to
take advantage off.
On their travels, Henry meets more klephts, companions of Miltiades on their way to
Tripolitsa for plunder. He must fight one for Yelda. Henry then rescues a survivor
from the klepht's ambush, only for him to steal theletters of introduction Henry carries.
They find the man executed later by Miltiades' Klephts.
The hardest revelation of all is when Yelda discovers Miltiades is her father.
They reach Tripolitsa under siege. Chaos reigns. Greeks trade with the besieged Turks.
The army is a shambles. Soon the fortress walls will be breached and Henry must
witness another massacre.
