Tony Armer is an accomplished professional in the film and entertainment industry, he is the Head of Physical Production for Talon Entertainment Finance. With a career spanning over two decades, Tony's achievements are wide and varied.
As Dallas Film Commissioner from January 2023 to August 2024 he secured outside investment to develop a new soundstage expansion in in only is first three months on the job. Additionally, he developed new business and workforce development programs and comprehensive marketing and promotional strategies to attract high level production to Dallas.
From 2014 to 2023, Tony Armer held the position of Film Commissioner for St. Petersburg Clearwater, Florida, overseeing a period of unprecedented success for the film commission. Under his leadership, the region experienced record-breaking revenues and achieved recognition as one of the "Top 25 Best Places to Live and Work as a MovieMaker" by MovieMaker Magazine in both 2021 and 2022, all accomplished without the presence of a state film incentive program.
Tony is also the Co-Founder of Film USA, a pioneering national non-profit organization that established the first National Association of United States Film Commissions in the country, further highlighting his commitment to the growth of the film industry on a national scale.
Tony is an Award-Winning Filmmaker. He is the Co-Founder of the internationally acclaimed Sunscreen Film Festival, which he led from its inception in 2005 to become an annual event in both St. Petersburg, FL, and Los Angeles, CA. Sunscreen consistently ranks as one of the Top 100 reviewed festivals on Film Freeway and was recognized as one of the "25 Coolest Film Festivals in the Country" by Movie Maker Magazine. Notably, it was sponsored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the Oscars) in 2013-2014.
Tony Armer's impact on the industry extends to film production, where he helped write, develop, and produce several films, theatrically released and distributed by Lionsgate in North America. He spearheaded and is an Executive Producer of the Amazon Prime Video series Life’s Rewards.
His screenplay "Terminal Kill," which earned recognition as an awards finalist in Screencraft's prestigious Action Screenplay competition. The “Terminal Kill” graphic novel based on the screenplay has been completed and is awaiting publishing. Tony will be Directing “Terminal Kill” as a feature film.
Furthermore, Tony's experience includes directing and producing award-winning documentaries such as "Running with Demons" and "Portrait of a Superhero," which garnered international acclaim and numerous awards.
Tony's extensive background in film education includes teaching as an adjunct professor at the Art Institute of Tampa and the University of Tampa. He has developed workforce development programs in Florida and Dallas. He graduated Magna Cum Laude Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL, and a Master of Fine Arts in Motion Pictures and Television from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA.
Tony Armer has built deep and lasting relationships within the film industry, working closely with film distributors and sales agents at major markets such as Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, and AFM. His diverse skill set encompasses production, directing, writing, and creating film, TV, corporate, and digital media content since 1997.
