Selling your short film

Hi, I have put this on the distribution lounge but seeing as financing is also about getting a return on your money or getting money back that will fund your next film…. I know most films languish on hard drives after their festival run but if your film wins awards are there any UK, French or US dis...

Woah x 2 - Pan-African Financial Institution Afreximbank Poised To Launch $1B African Film Fund

Great news for African Filmmakers or storytellers but keep in.mind that Afreximbank is a bank , so.they.dont provide equity funding for films or tv projects , they will finance through debt which means they will compete with others lenders on the market with a focus on.African stories.

Sharing some current talent value market knowledge

I was talking with a colleague of mine who is President of Sales & Acquisition for a major prod co and he said the market right now for presales is really soft. These names are barely scratching $1MM in global pre-sales right now. So if you are packaging right now, I hope this knowledge helps as you...

Yeah, pre-sales are tough and minimum guarantees have gone way down across the board.

Thanks for posting Amanda. Pre-sales financing has been in decline for awhile and this is solid confirmation. I've long felt that international distributors needed to step up and pay for films again i...

What are the key themes to emerge from the submissions to the UK government film and TV committee?

This is an interesting, if not depressing read and it seems to me that the elephant in the room is not addressed - that is, the need for investment, not from government schemes, but from HNW individuals.

As far as I'm aware, there is no tax incentive focus in this paper for private HNW individuals an...

Thank you Amanda. Seems to me the best gains were the minimums increase to the Basic Agreement and as much AI protection as they were able to negotiate. Definitely helpful for auditions to have more time to prepare (and I think there's an in-person option.)

Funding a Short in a Small City that seems to be completely off the map when it comes to Production

Any ideas on how to Fund a Short that I wrote in a town where Creative Film Production seems as if it is not even tried here? Youngstown OH. Home of the Warner Brothers. We need to bring creativity back to this place and put people to work.

Start with the premise and whom might be interested in participating (film funds, grants, special interest organizations, etc.) Of course, crowd funding, individual investors, friends and family, etc.

Raising the annual cap on the incentive from $8 million to $30 million sounds like a big jump, @Jack Binder! Hope the producers and filmmakers from Oklahoma on Stage 32 take advantage of the opportunity.

Amanda Toney

I have a colleague who shot in Oklahoma a while ago and loved the experience. There are a lot of locations that can create a lot of different looks. Very cool they are up to 20-30%. Thanks for sharing Jack!

Maureen Mahon

I'm going to Oklahoma at the end of this week to look at locations and sound stages! Although they upped the annual cap, they reduced the tax rebate from 35% to 30%. Still, it sounds like a great place to shoot. I'm excited to check it out.

Sam Sokolow

I met some great production people from Oklahoma at AFM - they're excited about their production community and certainly want to grow and do more. Very exciting stuff.
