I wrote this script based off of a time I was supposed to go to Africa to shoot but the movie got cancelled. Wouldn't this be great to be able to now get funding to shoot this story.

Great news for African Filmmakers or storytellers but keep in.mind that Afreximbank is a bank , so.they.dont provide equity funding for films or tv projects , they will finance through debt which means they will compete with others lenders on the market with a focus on.African stories.

Wow - fascinating - these are such talented actors who have been in huge successes. I'd think they would rate higher. I imagine the global talent marketplace will continue to adjust post the SAG-AFTRA strike and with global production continuing to grow. Will definitely keep an eye on this. Yeah, pre-sales are tough and minimum guarantees have gone way down across the board.

Thanks for posting Amanda. Pre-sales financing has been in decline for awhile and this is solid confirmation. I've long felt that international distributors needed to step up and pay for films again if the independent film sector is to thrive. Only a handful of actors can command a pre-sale funding opportunity and at lower levels. Fortunately, a theatrical - streaming distribution strategy (and direct to streaming) is yielding a way forward for the industry.

OK thank you, I've spent alot of money of the years on feedback and competitions. I have come close to having a movie made alongside Canadian Director Manuel DaSilva but the pandemic killed that project, for now at least. I have another company that wants to hold the rights to one of my scripts under the guise that it may get produced by their company. The way they are doing it though is almost like a competition where they have 3 different scripts and which ever gets the most recommendations is the one that they will make. Seems kinda Sketchy, the company is Interdependent.

Really interesting read, Geoff Hall - thank you for sharing. Tax incentives and distribution deals can carry a creative community but HNI supercharge things. Will keep an eye on this. Please share anything else you find or read on this.

Thanks for sharing Jack. It's interesting because I've talked with actors who are very excited for this new deal, but then I've also talked with actors who don't think the deal was strong enough. I've heard from several that were excited about the casting tape parameters of 48 hours, as some CDs apparently are taking advantage of an unrealistic tight turn around. Thought that was interesting.

Thank you Amanda. Seems to me the best gains were the minimums increase to the Basic Agreement and as much AI protection as they were able to negotiate. Definitely helpful for auditions to have more time to prepare (and I think there's an in-person option.)

Start with the premise and whom might be interested in participating (film funds, grants, special interest organizations, etc.) Of course, crowd funding, individual investors, friends and family, etc.

Work extra jobs, save $, piecemeal production (meaning shoot weekends), use Credit cards. Thats the path many choose to fund their own shorts. Money will make ppl show up on time and work.

True that Dan MaxXx. As an avid fan of Movies and TV as well; one thing that I found to resonate is to use OPM in any High Risk Venture. What I really want and need is a Producer who knows the three rules. Always get the Money. Always remember to get the Money. Raising the annual cap on the incentive from $8 million to $30 million sounds like a big jump, @Jack Binder! Hope the producers and filmmakers from Oklahoma on Stage 32 take advantage of the opportunity.

I have a colleague who shot in Oklahoma a while ago and loved the experience. There are a lot of locations that can create a lot of different looks. Very cool they are up to 20-30%. Thanks for sharing Jack!

I'm going to Oklahoma at the end of this week to look at locations and sound stages! Although they upped the annual cap, they reduced the tax rebate from 35% to 30%. Still, it sounds like a great place to shoot. I'm excited to check it out.

I met some great production people from Oklahoma at AFM - they're excited about their production community and certainly want to grow and do more. Very exciting stuff.
