About Iryna

Iryna Asonova is a Ukrainian writer-director. Studied filmmaking and cinematography at “New York Film Academy”. In 2015 Iryna worked as a cinematographer on art project “Letters from Maydan” about modern Ukrainian poetry that was written during the “Revolution of Dignity”. In 2017 Iryna directed her first short film “Cage for the talking parrot”. Film was selected by “Montreal World film festival”. Her second short film “the Apple Garden”, was selected for “Cannes short corner”, “California Women’s film festival” and many others. In 2021 Iryna worked as an Executive Producer on Spanish-French-Ukrainian coproduction film “Searching for Dali”, film premiered in March 2023. After February 24, 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine Iryna relocated to Latvia. In summer 2022 Iryna joined a producing team for American-Ukrainian-Greece co-production feature film “Satisfaction” that will be shot in Greece in June 2023 and simultaneously developing her first feature film as Writer/Director “Homeless Unicorns”.
