“You Cain’t Cage A Bird” is a song literally about a woman who found herself mixed up in the above scenario. Having been rescued from a life of instability by a rich mogul, she realized that she’d traded in her dreams of being a singer for material items. Although lovely, the materialistic items didn’t dim her intrinsic desire to share her music with the world. She sees herself as a bird in a cage and when the opportunity for freedom arises, she flies right of her real-life imprisoned castle that she’s been bound up in for oh so long … watching the world go by. She’s now free to sing for as long as she wants and for as loud as she wants. This song, however, has a deeper meaning and that is any of us from any walk of life can feel caged in if we’re not allowed to pursue our dreams. The message in this song is that it’s never too late to fly, to soar — to achieve a dream that may have been hidden, or even one that’s been worked on for decades.
