Have you ever wondered how movies and TV manage all of the moving parts and logistics before, during, and after production? Or how the production manages to always get the right information into the right people’s hands at the right time? Moreover, once a production is rolling, who handles all of the logistics and plane tickets and the movement of actors from one place to another? And who ensures that when the smoke clears, all of the paperwork is in order and the project has been delivered in a way that the Producers and Unit Production Managers can stand by and be proud of? These questions and more can be answered in two words... the "Production Coordinator".

What Is A Production Coordinator?

A production coordinator, or production office coordinator as the job is known in Los Angeles, is a member of a film or TV show's production team who provides logistical support to the creative aspects of the production. Working behind the scenes, production coordinators perform many managerial, administrative and clerical tasks often associated with a film or TV show. The role of a production coordinator can involve physical duties, such as overseeing the moving of equipment, and administrative duties, such as managing schedules and paying bills.

Imagine being hired on a TV show or motion picture as a Production Coordinator and not knowing the intricacies and expectations of the job you were hired to do. How could you possibly succeed? That’s where training comes in, and why I am so excited about the Stage 32 Master Certification track in Production Coordinating that I have the honor of teaching.

The Importance Of A Production Coordinator On Your Productions

The various responsibilities that a Production Coordinator handles on a film or TV show may seem daunting, but they don’t need to be! That’s why I’m teaching Stage 32’s new Production Coordinator Certification Courses. I started my career as a Production Coordinator on a Chuck Lorre show (BIG BANG THEORY, TWO AND A HALF MEN, THE BOOKIE) and have worked with distributors such as Netflix, Hulu and ABC on the series COUNTRY COMFORT, BLACK CAKE, HOT IN CLEVELAND and more.

The Stage 32 Master Certification track in Production Coordinating breaks everything down over four individual certification courses that not only explain the importance of each task and role, but we also show how the job is done and what skills you’ll need to master in order to be a great Production Coordinator yourself.

Being a good Production Coordinator means your expertise and contributions help a film or television show company stay on schedule, or ahead of schedule, and solve production issues before the affect the rest of the crew and cast. Production Coordinators interact with Producers, Line Producers, Unit Production Managers, Department Heads and Production Assistants to help bring the magic of a film or TV show to life. Being a part of a production team that makes a story come to life on screen is what makes working on films and TV shows an amazing experience, but the importance of this position cannot be overstated. Our Stage 32 Production Coordinating Master Certification track examines and explains the real job of a Production Coordinator from pre-production through production, and ultimately through wrap.

Learning how to be a Production Coordinator and succeeding at it means being part of the collaborative process and experience of filmmaking. It is exciting to play an intricate role in telling stories cinematically. And the industry needs more qualified Production Coordinators. That’s why I appreciate Stage 32 for creating this extensive, thorough certification course.
