Difficult question. I would say, for instance, Bollywood and Hollywood working together, creating movies that are a balanced mix of both cultures; film styles, music styles, complementing each other, finally creating a perfect equilibrium. Think "slumdog millionaire" or "Life of Pi."

It seems to be difficult. And it all seems to come down to "who you know." Some people luck out and find a good partner early in their careers, but if you're jumping in later, at least in my experience, it's been tougher.
I think it can only happen if either you're personalizing the work relationship ( Producer - partner producer relationship) Or, you're sharing the same intentions with the proposed partner.
