I recently met with the French regional film commissioner and a UK pilot programme to discuss the same topic - how do we support and grow skills and retain talent to grow the industry in an ethical and...

Difficult question. I would say, for instance, Bollywood and Hollywood working together, creating movies that are a balanced mix of both cultures; film styles, music styles, complementing each other, finally creating a perfect equilibrium. Think "slumdog millionaire" or "Life of Pi."

America show bizness is bad; Sony layoffs, agency went out of business last week, and EA games just fired about 300 ppl this week. No idea what will happen if IATSE go on strike. Sadly, you gotta be financially wealthy to choose a show biz career/side hobby

Worse this year than last year for women behind camera.

It's not surprising, there's always a backlash to change. Hopefully we can continue to move forward even with the set backs.

Which is wild because Barbie and the Taylor Swift/Beyonce concert docs made theaters most of their revenue last year. You would think there's something there

It seems to be difficult. And it all seems to come down to "who you know." Some people luck out and find a good partner early in their careers, but if you're jumping in later, at least in my experience, it's been tougher.

I think it can only happen if either you're personalizing the work relationship ( Producer - partner producer relationship) Or, you're sharing the same intentions with the proposed partner.
