About Katherine

I'm a writer/director of shorts and just finished a no-budget first feature. I've done a bit of everything: colour grading, editing, art dept, writing, camera, sound design - it helps a lot when you're working on a no-budget!

My first love is writing – I have a First Class Honours Degree in Visual Arts and Writing, and wrote two novels during that time. I've published non-fiction for other authors, but don't do much of that now, in favour of focussing on my film projects.

As a screenwriter, I've adapted a pre-World War Two thriller/drama novel for a production company, an action/horror and a sci-fi time travelling project.

I'm working on five of my own feature projects and looking for a producer who likes supernatural thrillers.

Crossing (2007)
Film by Roger Larry (Crime, Drama and Romance) Art department Fifteen years after he last saw him, Danny Cimmerman, a Toronto banker, comes back to Vancouver to say goodbye to his ethnic Croatian gangster father, John Cimmerman, who is on his death bed. Danny never approved of how his father made a living, the reason why Danny left town in the first place, and conversely John felt Danny was a disappointment. Regardless, John's death bed wish is for Danny to take over the family business and make it legitimate. Part of that entails Danny marrying Anika Nowak, the daughter of one of John's associates, Louis Nowak. The transition to legitimacy will not be easy as some friends and enemies may want to exploit what they see as a weakness in the organization during the transition. Danny is attacked one evening by two people who knew he was carrying a large wad of cash, which he guesses was organized by someone on the inside.
