Introduce Yourself : Appreciative Actor... by Julia Parker

It's introduce yourself weekend and I've always felt intimidated by that and didn't know where to start. Fortunately, I have a lot going on acting-wise and thought "today is the day" so I might as well dive right in. You never know who might read it and want you for their next project... I'm an L.A. actress who got back into the business after having a "regular job" almost 11 years ago. After lots of infomercials, modeling jobs and commercials, I put it out to the Universe that I wanted to work on more TV and Film. When you ask the Universe, it delivers :) I've been busier than ever and very thankful for all the opportunities I've gotten. Some of my roles so far have included: concerned child psychologist, Curious Cougar, upscale sarcastic wife, PTSD soldier's emotional mom, head ER nurse, helpful ghost, revengeful ex-mistress, CEO of Fox Studios, casting director, pushy reporter, Alien, Wayward Church Secretary, 9/11 Flight Attendant...just to name a few. I just got back from ScreamFest yesterday and got to see my lead performance in DON'T LET THEM IN on the big screen. It's been selected in over 10 festivals so far. I'm so proud of how it turned out. My project, THE MOMENT I WAS LONE, is a selection in the Carmel Film Festival next weekend. Brian Krause (Charmed, Return to the Blue Lagoon, etc.) and I have worked on a couple of projects now. Our newest, RIBBONS, is about to come out. I'm looking forward to working with him again! What I've love to do next is work on bigger and meatier roles...maybe a detective in a small town, space commander or anything Sci-Fi, a "wolf in sheep's clothing" type of character...who knows but I feel the sky's the limit. But most of all, I'm really looking forward to working with passionate talented people both in front of and behind the camera.
