Introduce Yourself : A little of everything by Adrienne Gittus

A little of everything

Hi everyone,

I am a filmmaker and photographer and a jack of all trades. I originally specialized in underwater cinematography and over the last 10 years have expanded to create my own business, Soulwater Productions, creating promotional content both above and below the waves primarily for the dive and tourism industry. While the underwater world and ocean conservation is still my first passion, I am also loving learning and practising a vast range of new skills. I do all my own scriptwriting, shooting (underwater, on land, aerial, 360), editing, colour grading, and most other post-production tasks. As a one-woman band, I also run all the behind-the-scenes aspects of my business from client relations and treatment development, to financial management. It is certainly challenging in this rapidly changing world!

My biggest claim to fame (and proudest moment) is the creation of the documentary "A Fish Full of Dollars" which has screened and won awards around the world. With a little help from my friends, I scripted, shot, edited, and promoted this film which aims to build awareness about the shark fishing industry in Indonesia. I learned a HUGE amount making this film and would love to make another documentary in the future.

If you want to see a bit more of what I do, here is the link for my website: http://www.soulwaterproductions.com/

I look forward to meeting you online!

Hey, Adrienne Gittus! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage32. I'm sure you get this all the time, but you are frickin' BAD ASS! So great to meet you! I'm terrified of being underwater (although I was a PC on Aquarium of the Pacific, a film made for a CA museum), so what you do is just kind of amazing to me. I was looking over your profile, but you don't have much there. Maybe you could use some of this post to help build up your bio!

I would LOVE for you to start a conversation in the Cinematography Lounge - maybe you can talk about your switch to CCR? I read it in your "About Us", but it's new to me: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/cinematography

Wow, Fiji?! Would you be interested in participating in the "Paris, Je T'aime" challenge I posted in the Filmmakers Lounge? It's just a fun way to get to know people through their city:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect!

Hi Kay, thanks for your message. I think I'm blushing a bit, I certainly don't think of myself as a badass, but really appreciate your encouragement. I think everyone has their fears and challenges to overcome, and I love seeing people do just that when they experience our beautiful underwater world for the first time. For myself, one of my biggest challenges is to be on the "wrong" side of the camera - I hate to be filmed. Which is ironic since my latest upcoming projects will require me to do just that. I am still working up the courage! I have taken your suggestion and made a short post in your "Paris Je T'aime" challenge. It's amazing how it got me thinking about ideas for a story.

CCR is definitely one of my passions and one of the hardest things I ever had to master. But I love it! I'd love to share that with other cinematographers here too.

Thanks for the feedback and encouragement. I'll do my best to get more involved here too.
