SYNOPSIS:

In this gripping drama, the lives of five individuals become entwined by a kidnapping, leading them on a rollercoaster journey of love, justice, and redemption.

Anna Westcott, a resilient heart transplant survivor and nurse, longs to break free from her overprotective family. When she visits her sister Amie, who teaches English in China, her life takes an unexpected turn.

During her flight, Anna forges a connection with Ryan Anderson, a prominent businessman. However, their encounter takes a dark twist when Anna witnesses a young woman being abducted after landing, leading to her own kidnapping.

In captivity, Anna confronts Kang, an enigmatic undercover agent, during a dangerous encounter at a crime boss's party. After a harrowing shoot-out, Anna is reunited with her sister, but her statement raises suspicions about Ryan's involvement.

The story unveils a web of deception, intrigue, and crime as the characters' paths converge. Through a series of twists and turns, the series delves into the challenges faced by the Westcott sisters, Anna and Amie, and the two Chinese police officers, Kang and Detective Man Zhu Bai, as they confront the crimes that transcend borders.

Ultimately, the series presents a powerful narrative that explores the resilience of the human spirit, the pursuit of justice, and the unyielding power of love in the face of adversity. As the characters navigate through their entangled lives, they discover the true strength of their bonds and the depths of their determination to overcome the darkest of circumstances.

Michael W. Orick as exciting as that sounds, it’s not the story, I definitely need to update my longline. It is probably the biggest challenge I have had writing.

Jill Godley

OK Everyone- If anyone has a better idea for a logline for my series, I would love the help.

Anna- If dealing from the PTSD of being kidnapped, working as an ER nurse in Boston, having a crime boss (who doesn't know, that you know, he is a criminal) trying to pursue you, how about having the undercover agent you met show up at your door and decide to move in. The one whose favorite thing to say is no and makes you take your shoes off when you enter the house.

Kang Jia Zan- How to catch a criminal and the heart of a feisty red headed American. It's easy, just need to learn a new language, move across the world, get a new job with a partner that doesn't shut up, adjust to a new culture and win over her family. Need a bigger challenge? Coordinate an international investigation into the crime boss and stop him before innocent people end up dead.

Amie- Rescuing her sister was easy compared to falling in love with Detective Man Zhu Bai. Now she has to decide if she is willing to permanently give up her family and her country in order to build a new one with the man she loves and his adorable daughter, but is their love strong enough to overcome emotional scars, social commentary and a disapproving mother-in-law.

Man Zhu Bai- He dedicated his life to his job and doing the right thing, but balancing work and relationships can be tricky, especially when having to coordinate an investigation into a crime ring operating on both sides of the ocean. When he isn't dealing with gangs and human traffickers, he comes home to his mother trying to set him up on blind dates, a girlfriend that is going to be leaving the country at the end of the school year and a daughter that is too smart for her own good.

Ryan- Running a global crime ring is all in a days work, but the pressure starts to mount when the police start working together. Not to mention how can the woman he fell in love with at first sight possibly reject him, he is rich, handsome and charming (except when trying to kill you).

I think this sums up all the main characters and their issues any ideas?

Can two American/Chinese couples break through the barriers keeping them apart? Finding your perfect match is hard enough, but when you add an ocean, language and cultural barriers it becomes a real challenge. Not enough? How about throwing an international crime ring into the mix. Follow Kang Jia Zan and Anna in the USA and Man Zhu Bai and Amie in China as they navigate the obstacles of falling in love.

Jill Godley

An international human trafficking ring is the catalyst which brings two American sisters and two Chinese police officers together. Agent Kang Jia Zan follows feisty nurse Anna to the USA to help coordinate a two prong investigation with the Boston Police. The Tianjin police are led by Detective Man Zhu Bai, who falls for Amie, his daughter’s gentle teacher.

An international human trafficking ring is the catalyst which brings two American sisters and two Chinese police officers together. A heartwarming look at how our lives impact people around us and not letting our differences be a barrier between us.

Nathaniel Baker thanks I have been working hard on it.

Jill SO this is actually as cross-cultural romantic thriller? Hallmark, MOW, Lifetime Movies for Women? My question is, who is your target audience? Because it seems to me that your trying to make an action movie, but heavy on the love story. I could be wrong, but that is what I got out of your log line. I don't want to rate it without understanding what the story is a bout.

Jill Godley

Jenean McBrearty you could definitely put it that way.

My audience- I would see this as PG-13 and up. With having human trafficking and some swearing (I couldn't with so many cops involved avoid it, I tried, lol) it is defiantly targeted to general audience teen- adult, think of it as similar to VIRGIN RIVER, but more of the crime element involved. To use an analogy- Think of the crime as the car and the story as a safari. The car (crime) moves us through the safari(story) , but the attraction is the animals (characters) not the car.

The reason the female leads and male leads meet is due to the crime (episode 1). The reason Kang Jia Zan (one of the policemen) is able to go the USA is to help with a two pronged investigation (and chase Anna), it is a tool to move the story and the characters.

One logline I tried was - "This is a story about what happens after the rescue". kind of thing. In the above comments I summed up each character and their "problems".

Thank you for spending your time on my logline. Any help is appreciated.

Jenean McBrearty

I'm not big on romance movies. If this is a mystery/crime movie, I say 5 BIG STARS; if it's a romance movie to message about inter-cultural love, I'd say 4 1/2. And I did read the characters descriptions and thread before I wrote. Because America has such a dirty hand in the human trafficking cabal with the illegals now, I think it's time to address the problem head on. If it takes a love story to do that, I'm on board. Good luck with it.

Jill Godley

Jenean McBrearty thank you so much- definitely address the issue because you see what happens to the victims and even those that survive still have a lot of psychological issues. It is heavy on the love story too so I will take the 4.5 happily.
