GENRE: Drama, Comedy
LOGLINE:

Brandon Berry leaves everything behind to open a hostel in a foreign land where he found his true love, navigating a whirlwind of eccentric guests and quirky staff, all while grappling with a dark past that refuses to leave him.

SYNOPSIS:

The Welcome Hostel is an 8-episode dramatic series set in the vibrant town of Hoi An, Vietnam, where a diverse group of travellers and locals converge at a charming hostel by the beach. The story revolves around the hostel's enigmatic owner, Brandon, who seeks a fresh start to heal from a traumatic breakup.

As the hostel's popularity grows, Brandon grapples with a series of unique challenges brought by eccentric guests, including a 48-year-old hippie, the ever-present Prod, and others. Amidst this chaos, Brandon finds validation in the words of travellers who idolise him as a symbol of escape from a painful past.

Nevaeh, a rich American seeking a genuine connection away from her privileged life, exchanges cleaning services for a room, delving into the world of travellers. She forms an unexpected bond with Nick-O, an Australian traveler, but her world shatters when she witnesses him leaving with another woman.

Mitch, the hostel's bar manager, brings charisma and chaos to the mix with his wild partying. His struggles with newfound responsibility and a developing attraction to Nevaeh add complexity to his character.

As the series unfolds, the characters confront their pasts and navigate the unpredictable world of The Welcome Hostel. Gillian's suspicions about Brandon's history, Nevaeh's journey of self-discovery, and Mitch's battle with self-control interweave, forming the core of the narrative, as Brandon’s dream becomes a nightmare overnight when he’s arrested for his wife’s murder.

In this richly textured series, themes of trust, identity, and belonging come to the forefront as these characters grapple with their personal demons while finding solace in each other's company. The Welcome Hostel becomes a microcosm of life's unpredictability, offering its guests a chance to heal, connect, and discover themselves in the most unexpected of places. It also asks the question of what is the truth, and how do you decide what hill to die on when you think you’re doing something with good intentions?

With a mix of humour, drama, and poignant moments, "The Welcome Hostel" takes viewers on a heartfelt journey through the lives of its diverse characters as they seek refuge, redemption, and a sense of home in a world that's always on the move.
