SYNOPSIS:

Growing up in the early 70s Carla is an only child to a single father. Her mother is a mentally disturbed woman who makes an embarrassment of herself on Atlanta streets. The only two friends Carla has growing up are the sounds of HipHop and her best friend Tyrone. As soon as she graduates college she is offered a position to head up Britain's leading hiphop magazine and she doesn't hesitate. In 1985, inner city youth in London are looking to Hiphop for answers and inpiration; British Hiphop is still finding it's way and Europe is following suit. The former white editor (Tiffanny) and CEO of BritHop Mag is not happy with Carla's presence, and the new editor (Ian) from Dublin is not quite what Carla thought he was from the phone intro. Her quirky, gay assistant (Michael) is her only ally it seems and she will have to build a new team and find a mental therapist pronto. BritHop is a dramedy series that merges the offbeat type of humor and touching moments you find in Parenthood with an honest and sexy inside look at the music industry like you would find in the series Nashville.
