BOTH SIDES OF THE FOYLE
By Simon Wilkinson

GENRE: Comedy, Other, Romance
LOGLINE: A young Catholic boy crosses the sectarian divide in Derry to win the heart of a beautiful dancer. Together they inspire the fusion of a traditional Irish dance group and an urban dance crew to form an awesome cross-community dance sensation.

SYNOPSIS:

A feature length Romantic Comedy / Dance film. Romeo & Juliet (with a happy ending) meets Street Dance (with lots of amazing dance routines and cool music). A love story about a Catholic boy from the Bogside and a Protestant girl from Tullyally. Their love is more powerful than the sectarian hatred around them, as they draw their very different circles of friends into an amazing Irish / Street fusion dance group. He pretends to be Protestant when the action is in East Derry, whilst she pretends to be Catholic whilst the action is in West Derry. Their deception is eventually unmasked, but the dance group have become so popular and successful by this point that it really doesn't matter who's from where anymore. PLEASE NOTE: This is a very early first draft and is the first act only. (Any suggestions on improving it would be greatly appreciated)
