IN THE LAND OF MISFITS

IN THE LAND OF MISFITS
By David Villanueva

GENRE: Biography, Comedy
LOGLINE:

An eccentric granny and her foul-mouthed grandkids embark on kooky adventures, while encountering a crazy homeless lady, cussing contests, a slutty waitress, a dead bunny, and a Christmas Miracle!

SYNOPSIS:

David and Monic, age 8 and 9, embark on adventures with their Nana, a kooky, plump, eccentric old lady (imagine someone like Kathy Bates in this role), who cusses, is a restaurant kleptomaniac, and lets the kids have “Cussing Contests,” to see who can out cuss who and make her laugh. Nana beats to her own drum, doesn’t care what people think of her, always has an opinion, and teaches the kids an important lesson about life – always have fun! Nana’s only rule when the kids visit, “Don’t bother me when I’m watching my soaps!” David and Monic get into trouble, whether it’s slaps to the head, poking Monic’s pet bunny Precious, and getting her mad and causing the bunny to bite, which leads to Nana killing the bunny and cooking it; playing hide and go seek in the house and uncovering a prosthetic leg; finding Nana’s moonshine and taking swigs from the jug; and going to church with Nana, where her crippled friend gets healed by a pastor and runs around the church. Nana announces she witnessed a Christmas miracle, which causes her and David to laugh like a bunch of loonies, and get kicked out of the church. IN THE LAND OF MISFITS is not a tale of a granny who bakes cookies and calls everyone sugar, it’s a tale of F-bombs and LOL unconventional love.

IN THE LAND OF MISFITS is based on my published humor memoir of the same (released in 2014 by Shook Up Publishing), and it has been compared to AUNTIE MAME meets BAD GRANDPA. And imagine someone like Kathy Bates in the role of my kooky granny!
