Hello Stage 32! I'm new and taking the tour. I am a screenwriter/director/ producer. I sold my first script to an American production company. I directed and produced the second script I wrote and got a sales distributor with presales in 22 countries. I wrote, directed and produced with a friend a short that's won audience choice award and is now pairing with some big organizations as the topic is hot... Bullying. I have 2 other features written. One I'm selling the other I want to direct and produce. Looking for film financers. Okay... hopefully I got the intro right. Off to check this place out some more! Looking forward to connecting!
When thirteen-year-old Wendy Whooten and her parents move to her mother’s childhood home to care for her aging grandmother, Wendy is devastated. She doesn’t want to leave her friends and school, and she hates the big old house her mother grew up in. Her mom insists she will learn to love the quaint little town of Camelot as much as she did when she was growing up and that she will find ‘Old Bones’, as her mother fondly calls the house, a magical and special place. Magical got Wendy’s attention but soon vanished when the family car pulled into the driveway of her grandmother’s house. Magical was the last thing she wanted to call the big old house. Wendy refused to get out of the car. Arms crossed and defiant, that’s where her parents left her. Two hours later, Wendy breaks and soon makes a fantastic discovery in her grandmother’s attic. A hidden secret sends Wendy and three new friends on a fantastic journey, changing everything in their little world into a real-life fairy tale. Welcome to the world of Wendy Woo and her first adventure: Wendy Woo and the Dragon Eggs

Hi! I’m Virginia McKevitt. I write fantasy novels focusing on adventure, mystery and romance with an element of magic intertwined. I’ve lived most of my life in the city of New Orleans whose very history is steeped in mystery and magic, along with a mix of religion and superstitions that have created a wealth of writing material for someone like me. Children’s fairy tales and imaginary friends were the building blocks that started this writer on a path to where she is today. I began to write, but was too self conscious to share my stories, so I wrote for me. Time passed, works were put away and life went on, until Hurricane Katrina. The curse to so many was a blessing in disguise for me, though at the time I didn’t think so. She blew into town, destroyed my business and my farm, then moved me north, to Alabama, then to the Georgia mountains. That decision changed my life. That story, started in my twenties, now decades later, is a published work and is now in the works to become a screenplay, which is a new challenge for me. I'm up to it. I've gotten this far, lol.

Hi there guys. My name is Virginia McKevitt and I have been a member of Stage 32 since April of 2012. I'm an independent published author who writes fantasy/science fiction with a much broader scope to include romance, mystery, action and adventure. I am currently in the process of taking my series, Fracture The Secret Enemy Saga, from book to a screen written version for movie or television. Stage 32 has opened up opportunities for so many people in the years I have been here. Thanks for joining. You may be next. Hello and welcome to the neighborhood!

Hi Joey. It's been a few months but the last movie I went to was Jarrasic World. What can I say, it was too predictable. The special effects were awesome. You can check out my thoughts here: Virginia McKevitt, Author posted in Film, TV & Theater Discussion Jurrasic World, Meh I went to see Jurrasic World today and left the theater with mixed feeling about the highly anticipated block buster. With director Colin Trevorrow at the wheel and executive producer Steven Spielberg at the helm, I anticipated a renewed magic in the franchise's history since the first film over a decade ago, but was some what let down. The production and set were a masterpiece and you would expect nothing less with production designer Ed Verreaux and set designer Masako Masuda (from the original film) on board, but the film seemed to fall back on the first production's story-line . There was a hint of romance, raptors in training, and a new owner but the plot ran so close along the lines of JP 1 that it made it easy to foresee what was happening before the next scene. The action was nonstop and the bits of humor were well done but I felt like I was jogging with an old friend instead of running for my life. Over all I enjoyed the film but was left with the feeling that I had been there before. I was anticipating an original and fresh, clean slate with JW and was let down. That being said, children will love this "park" as much as the others and as the numbers show, it was a huge success. Have you seen JW? What was your take on the franchise's new baby?
Hey guys. So.... How do we write about places we've never been, or ever likely to visit? I'm pretty much hoping for a generic answer here. With emphasis on the 'hope'. Hey guys. So.... How do we write about places we've never been, or ever likely to visit? I'm pretty much hoping for a generic answer here. With emphasis on the 'hope'. I know we have sources for research - Google and Google Maps/Earth to name a couple. But what if even Google Earth is limited within this region? I mean, it can only scan in so far., thus not really helping a great deal with location visuals. I am currently into act three, and trying to solidify my scenes from the outskirts of Kabul, leading into, and as far as the Park Palace hotel. Which is where my hostages are being held in an underground cell, and a lot of action is due to take place. Then of course, the actions leads back to the outskirts of Kabul and so on. ( for the benefit of those who have read, and are aware of my story premise) I've written bare bones version in previous drafts, but now I need to make sure I get it to the standard that will be required. Any help with this would be greatly received as I am hoping to get this draft finished as soon as I possibly can.
Just another resource that I like to use is youtube. There may not always be video's on the place in your story but it doesn't hurt to try. I will youtube city council meeting or events to get a sense of what the town is like and their problems, even how they talk.
My feeling is always that the "place" I'm writing about is the emotional connection between two people. I'm in their emotional space, something I've experienced (or can approximate...).

Well. I've been here a long time, but apparently I never introduced myself. How rude! So, hello there! I am an IFP Gotham Award-winning independent film producer currently in Europe to develop a project. I'm originally from Los Angeles, but lately I'm sort of all over the place with projects set in such varied locales as England in the 20s, Rome in the future, Los Angeles and one project that straddles numerous countries. I've hosted a Next Level Webinar for Stage32.com and have written several blogs as well - perhaps you've read my stuff? I love movies with all my heart and I'm happy to be a part of the Stage32 Community (cheers, RB!). So say "hello" if you have a moment. Love meeting new people with a passion for film.
I also let quite a bit of time go before I "introduced myself" to the community here! It sounds like you've had the chance to work on some pretty incredible stuff! Would there be anything of yours that we could see online?
Hi, Katelyn - Honestly, I'm not sure where my films are now. Last I checked DAKOTA SKYE and GIRLFRIEND were running on Hulu. DS airs from time to time on Showtime Networks as well. You can check out the trailers at Ravenwoodfilms.com Thanks for asking and for the kind words.
Hi Virginia... thanks for inviting me into your network. It's very nice to meet you. How's it going down in New Orleans? I hear the film industry's very busy down there. That's great for the community. What are you working on these days?

Hello Everyone! I've been on Stage 32 for about a year now and I've met some great folks during that time! I'm currently looking for filmmakers to work with who'd be interested in adapting my science-fiction and/or my apocalyptic novels to film. I've already adapted one of my novels, Cybersp@ce, into a screenplay, and I plan to adapt the other two in that series once I find filmmakers interested in producing them. You can learn more about me and my novels at www.hortonlibrary.com. Whether you're new here or not, I'm glad you're here! This is a great place to explore opportunities that would not have been possible before Stage 32. Enjoy! Jeff W. Horton Novelist and Screenwriter
