THE ADVENTURES OF SOLNA: THE GAUNTLET
By J. Franklin Evans

GENRE: Fantasy, Action
LOGLINE:

In the prehistoric empire of Atlantis, newly-enslaved barbarian Solna is accused of murdering her master. To earn her freedom she must run the gauntlet -- fighting and killing twenty gladiators in a row.

SYNOPSIS:

In prehistoric Atlantis:

After being captured and forced into slavery, SOLNA (30, female) murders her master. The penalty for an accused slave is the gauntlet -- kill ten gladiators to win freedom, or be killed by them. She doubles the number of gladiators because another slave -- BRAEDA (20, female) also stands accused. She fights for them both.

Atlantis's entire economy is based heavily on slave labor, and if Solna wins, and word gets out, this may give the slaves hope for their own freedom. This can't be tolerated. The MAGISTRATE (40, male) overseeing her fight with the gladiators releases the final two to fight Solna at the same time -- against the rules.

Solna manages to kill all of her foes. In order to silence Braeda who would be freed because of this, the SENIOR PRIEST (50, male) offers the slave the chance to serve in his household, in a position of privilege and ease, provided she never speaks of what happened this day. Braeda accepts.

Disappointed, Solna stalks out of the arena, after vowing to return with an army to destroy Atlantis.
