As her funeral comes and goes, Robert is again ready to leave, but Stefano refuses to let him go. He explains he killed Maria to keep him there, if he tries to leave the police receive a gun with Robert’s prints, proving he murdered her.

Confused by this dramatic change of heart, Robert dismisses the threat and tries to go home, but he is arrested and brought back to the house. Stefano warns him no to try running again and locks him in his room until he understands he is a part of the family now and he belongs there.

It is not safe for him, as the Calderone family have endangered themselves risking a fragile truce with their rivals, the Tardelli’s. Is it only a matter of time before they discover this and dire consequences follow. Robert explains he cannot leave due to the gun with his prints. Aldo offers to help.

Aldo goes on to explain that the family are responsible for Robert’s father’s death. He betrayed the family and fled. He paints a sympathetic picture of his father, causing Robert to develop a new found respect for him.

With the family distracted, Aldo sends Robert to the docks to wait for him while he removes the prints for the gun. However, Aldo is caught by Stefano and beaten to death in order to find Robert’s whereabouts. Robert is quickly caught and faces death at the hands of a sorrowful Stefano, but he cannot go through with it.

Robert manages to escape, but with Aldo no longer around to help, he turns to the families rivals for help. He visits the head of the Tardelli family and exposes what his family had been doing. He exchanges this information for safe passage out of the country. As Robert boards a private jet, the Tardelli’s pay a deadly visit to the Calderone’s.
