Composing : A Little Canticle of Ecstasy by Geoff Hall

Geoff Hall

A Little Canticle of Ecstasy

It's that time of year and the music of the German mystic, Hildegard von Bingen, for me sums up the mystery and transcendence of this season.

'O vis eternitatis' (O force of eternity) took me by surprise when I heard it for the first time last night. The voices simply elevate us and has the potential to transform us.

Take a little time out and enjoy this piece, still calling to us from the 12th Century.

Enjoy...

Wow - this is hypnotic and conjures deep emotions. Amazing that it's almost a thousand years old. For some reason it made me think of Annaud's "The Name Of The Rose". I will listen to this again. Thank you, Geoff Hall!

Thanks, Sam Sokolow that’s a great reference. I love that film. It made me think of Harry Gregson-Williams and the choral music on ‘Kingdom of Heaven’.
