I just wanted to share a ‘part’ of what I do: “Tres Aqua” is my latest album. 90% instrumental nylon string guitar oriented compositions. Check it out. I performed and recorded the album in my home studio. https://youtu.be/njz41334Fcw?feature=shared

Hey, Guy Lee. Is there a big difference between performing and recording in a home studio and a regular studio (I guess that's the name for them)?

Recording in a home studio, I feel that the composer/artist has more control over their music vision. A lot depends on the how much knowledge the artist has of the software. It’s equally as important as have the gift of composing along with skill of playing the instruments for the project. I personally feel the quality of the music can be equivalent in a home or a full studio.
Cool, Guy Lee. Thanks for the answer. I imagine it's easier to perform and record at home because a composer/artist is in a more comfortable, familiar environment.

Indeed, most digital audio equipment is of the same high standard, in home studios or more professional studios.
However the acoustic environment is crucial, especially when recording anything acoustic.
If it's too dead, then the sound will be dead. If there is too much echo and reverb due to ceramic tiles etc. then it could be a disaster.
And finally, it's the performance that is the priority.

I use Cubase 7.5. I don’t want to upgrade because I’m so familiar with it. I can be creative and maneuver while playing and recording because it’s comfortable for me to work with. Here’s the latest song I recorded “ No HOA”. It’s on iTunes, Amazon… but here’s a video I made: https://youtu.be/dV88JqVYVIA?feature=shared
