Hello Everybody! Happy Easter, Happy Ramadan, Happy Passover!
I'm Adrian Akeem Sterling, 1/2 of the Sterling brothers! I'm an Actor/writer, and my brother Aaron Sterling is a director/writer. Here's a little about us as filmmakers: Our goal is to tell stories that change perceptions and subvert expectations about black men and black families. What we've done so far During the 2020 lockdown: my brother and I wrote a short about my journey to the NFL called "MAKE IT HAPPEN." As of this point, our film has been selected to multiple OSCAR qualifying film festivals and is featured on Omelleto, home to the world's best short films. Our short will be used as a proof of concept to help a get our feature film made!
Here's a brief explanation of what our feature film is about:
Logline:
After his college football career falls short of the NFL, a resilient athlete grinds to overcome failure and free his family from poverty, despite the pressure threatening to destroy him.
Our story examines how mental health and professional sports collide. We follow a young man as he navigates the unexplored world of an undrafted free agent and observes how the pursuit of his goals affects his family and personal life as he teeters on the thin line between failure and success. This story is highly relevant, with examples of Simone Biles and Naomi Osaka within the last two years.

We are currently in talks with a couple of big-name talents and are working on getting the film fully financed. We would love anyone tips, tricks, and advice! So gratefully to be a part of this community!

Great job! My oldest sons played D1 football and we were actually discussing this very topic as my youngest wants to play pro basketball- we all immediately as a family began to outline a workout with mental health especially in mind. Can’t wait to watch your creation!

Hi, Adrian. Great to meet you. "Make It Happen" sounds like an exciting project. You guys have a strong logline and a pitch deck. My advice is to keep networking. Subscribe to the Screenwriting lounge, Filmmaking/Directing lounge, Financing/Crowdfunding lounge, and the Writers' Room. You can network with industry pros there. Best to you and your brother on the project.
