Introduce Yourself : Bringing some value by Laurie Ashbourne

Bringing some value

Hi All! And Happy Holidays. I am Producer and Screenwriter who has been instrumental in dozens of produced films that have earned billions of dollars at the box office. I currently have a large slate of projects in preproduction/production including an animated feature that is casting voices and musical talent, and a Christmas film just released now streaming worldwide. I also have a strong foundation in the documentary world, Fortune 500, and nonprofit sectors, with a demonstrated value in crafting stories that not only are entertaining and deserve to be told, but also deliver tremendous value to the communities who connect with the subject matter.

I’ve combined all of this into rethinking how independent films are financed in my new book VALUES, available on Amazon. Learn more here: https://investinginfilms.com/

Happy Holidays, Laurie Ashbourne. Congratulations on all of your success! I plan on picking up your book soon. I don't think I'll be pitching to investors any time soon, but in the book summary on Amazon, it says, "Filmmakers will find useful ways to pitch their projects, craft their narratives and talk to investors." I'm always looking for ways to get better at pitching. And if I do end up pitching to investors, I'll be ready.

Hi Laurie Ashbourne . Hope to connect with you along the journey...

Pamela Jaye Smith

Good for you, Laurie. Your books sounds really valuable. If you're not already connected with the Millennium Project you might want to do so as they have many organizations and projects along the lines of what you're doing. Wishing you all the best with your creative projects.

Billy Kwack

Thanks everyone, your support means a lot. Pamela Jaye Smith I am familiar with Millennium but have not looked at it in a long time, I will investigate. :-) DT Houston a friend of mine (who is not in the industry) was digesting the concept of the book and I pointed her to the recent example of how Ava DuVernay funded ORIGIN (similar to what I propose but not exactly), and she totally got it -- her comment was, "man you don't sleep on anything," to which I replied, "I don't sleep." I do nap however.

DT Houston

Laurie Ashbourne, napping... underrated. :>)

Thanks for introducing yourself. Looks like you've had interesting times in the business. We might know some of the same people. I look forward to connecting further sometime. I am intrigued by your book concept.

Laurie Ashbourne great stuff, Laurie. It’s always good to see what you’re up to! Happy Christmas and may you find plenty of time to chill…and nap of course!

Robin Gregory

Hi Laurie Ashbourne, thank you for taking time to introduce yourself. Congratulations on your new book, VALUES, and on your awesome projects. I hope you might have time to offer a S32 webinar on writing for animation one day.

Is the First 10 Pages on your website still active?

The Sky Car video on your profile is to die for!

Laurie Ashbourne

Robin Gregory thanks for connecting! I love that video, thanks for reminding me of it.:-)It's funny you ask about 1st 10 pages. The site has seen a surge in traffic and requests this week, and I have not been doing anything with it. Perhaps it's in the zeitgeist -- I will have to give it some TLC.

Robin Gregory

You are so welcome, Laurie Ashbourne. Don't know how you have the time to wear so many hats! I guess that's necessary to make a living in this biz. I'm revising an adapted feature script that could lend itself to animation. Really trying to nail the first 10 pages. Andrew Stanton's work is a guiding light. Please keep me posted. I'd love to run them by you for feedback some day.
