Introduce Yourself : Looking to expand my network. by Jeff Wood

Jeff Wood

Looking to expand my network.

Hello everyone. I am a screenwriter residing in Ottawa, Canada, and looking to expand my network on Stage 32. I have several independant features filming this year. Two in California, one if Florida, another in Toronto, and Cornered this July in Greece, I also have two scripts in development with Major Studios in Hollywood, but no dates as of when they will be filming. The scripts are written, they are shopping for Actors. I am looking to expand my network on Stage 32, and look forward to meeting the fine talent on this website, and hopefully developing future projects together.

Hi Jeff. First of all, congratulations on your success. I started out by writing about my husband's experience as a 20-year priest with the Roman Catholic church fighting the hierarchy set on closing churches and schools in working-class neighborhoods, which, according to a good producer friend and former head of several studios, will be almost impossible to make into a movie in Hollywood due to the "controversial" nature of the project (even when it is filled with three-dimensional characters and shocking sub-plots that have nothing to do with the church). I am currently putting the final touches to a second script, which brings the same ensemble of characters (5) to exonerate a young Latino wrongfully accused of murder. This project, titled "DNA," is a compilation of my previous work as an advocate for the wrongfully convicted in Illinois that won me the appointment to the state's Prisoner Review Board. As I told my screenwriter mentor Victoria Lucas (granddaughter of Michael Curtiz) my purpose is to write movies a la Michel Moore but fictionalized to make them entertaining, globally marketable and appealing to all audiences. I have seven other loglines in the pipeline -all dealing with real life issues. An update of my 2002 book, "Till Justice is Done," will come out on Kindle soon. Best.

Wonderful and kudos to you, Jeff! Would love, of course, to be considered for any upcoming roles, but, also would like to offer consultation and/or services if any projects need a dialect coach {several credits and private clients.) American filmmakers are beginning to realize that every character is from somewhere and that when the voices are wrong, realism is compromised. Dialect/dialogue support is an often overlooked, affordable investment in actor performances that brings a huge artistic and believability quotient to the work of art. Very best wishes to you in all of your endeavors and happy to network via Stage 32.
