Jeff believes that filmaking is an art form that can be pursued by the masses. With today’s technologies, everyone can, and are, making films.
In order to stand out from the masses, you need to start with a great screenplay. Great screenplays lead to great films, and it all starts when a screenwriter types these words -
FADE IN:
A film begins with a screenplay – a coherent document that contains a beginning (act 1), a middle (act 2), and and ending (act 3), that all relates to one and another in a fluid, seamless structure. It must be a compelling story, filled with interesting characters, believeable conflict, on-the-nose dialogue, blended into a plot that immediately grabs the viewer’s attention, and all be written with a unique voice.
Writing a great screenplay is not about the “writing” of a great story, it’s about “living” a great story.
This is where Jeff’s motto comes into effect. In order to have a great screenplay, you need to -
” Live the story – love the characters.”
