About Gloria

I'm a former Journalist and Fine Arts/Film major. My passion is writing screenplays and I've written about seven screenplays, one T.V. pilot, a comedy short, two plays, just a mish mash of many topics and genres that interest me. I've taken a number of courses from the U.S. and continue to do so. I am retired, but young at heart. Although, I do see a strong need in the industry for television content for seniors besides the Retro channel, because seniors find some of the humor today a little outrageous and silly, or so says my mother-in-law. I'm looking for a manager and mentor to help provide input and improve my voice and craft or find ways to package it. I'm willing to work for hire on projects, especially adaptations of books. I am confident I could write those well. I've volunteered for production companies doing script reading and analysis. I've also been a volunteer cameraperson for CogecoTV locally.
I have an overview of film production, but I'm looking forward to learning more about film financing and directing.
I look forward to any assistance/support I can receive from Stage 32 as I don't have any screenwriters around me, and quite frankly, it's getting a little lonely. I'm looking forward to meeting like-minded people to bounce off ideas, share reading materials and offer support as well. I'm totally a ditz when it comes to social media and I'm not that technically savvy so I may post a message in the wrong space or page here. My email address is: gjkatch@yahoo.ca in case anyone want to contact me and I forget to log into this site as I do have those blonde, senior moments and get distracted with life.

Unique traits: Loads of life experience as I'm a women of a "certain age". I've worked in many different fields, including social services, where I worked at a multicultural center and at a women's shelter for abused women. I have an understanding of mental health, addiction and homeless issues. After being a journalist, you also get to know how the government works and I've interviewed people from all walks of life, including artists, musicians, and actors in my earlier days.
