About Luis

Luis A. Colon began his film career as a production assistant for the HBO original programming "Subway Stories" in 1996, where he learned the tricks of the trade working with talented filmmakers including Spike Lee, Abel Ferrera, Ted Demme, Gregory Hines, and many others.

Luis attended Queens Vocational Technical High School in Long Island City, New York City, where he majored in business administration. However, after graduating from High School, he attended Hunter College where his filmmaking journey began. During his freshman yeah, Luis decided to take a leap of faith and he wrote, directed, and edited his first short film entitled "The Heights" before even attending a single film production course. With his determination and filmmaking talent, Mr. Colon was able to win three awards (Best Director, Best Editor, Best Screenplay) at the Hunter College Film Festival for his short film.

Mr. Colon graduated in 1999 with a B. A in film production. During his time at Hunter College, he also worked as a director of photography on several independent projects, such as "Being Chicken", "Evil's Edge", and "Dialogue for the Blind" to name a few. He has also worked as a grip/electric on numerous independent features like: "Beyond the Pale", "Four Deadly Reasons", "Fire Dancer", and "Secret of the Andes".

In addition to films, Mr. Colon has worked for several film/video production companies: Citicam Film/Video Services, JDM Productions, and Atlantic Television. Luis' work experience flourished while freelancing for these companies. He had the opportunity to work on everything from "Martha Stewart Living" to "Crossing Over with John Edwards" to commercials, music videos, and infomercials.

Mr. Colon operates his company Eighth Son Productions, Inc using his extensive film industry expertise and hands-on experience in the filmmaking field.
